About Us

Alison Beresford at Crossbank Farm Cottage Garden Plants of Wem has been growing hardy perennials, herbs and grasses for the last 20 years. She has a wide selection of home grown plants for sale to make your garden look beautiful. She can offer advice on each of the wide plant varieties that she grows and help you to decide what is best suited to your gardening needs.

She is a regular stall holder at the Shrewsbury Farmers Market (1st Friday of each month), the Wem Farmers Market (second Saturday of each month), Made in Shropshire Markets in Ludlow and Shrewsbury (1st and 2nd Saturday of each month respectively), Produce Markets in Oswestry (3rd Saturday in each alternate month) and the Shrewsbury Produce market (3rd Saturday in each alternate month) so visit her stall and view just a small selection of the variety of plants she has for sale. She also has a weekly stall at the Wem market held every Thursday morning on the Jubilee town square opposite the Coop and the Whitchurch weekly market every Friday (less the 1st one of each month) outside the Civic Centre.

Better still, visit her small nursery at Crossbank Farm, Wem SY4 5UN and view her full selection of plants. If you are planning to visit the nursery you are advised to contact Alison, before travelling, to ensure that she will be available to show you around, but generally it is open as shown below.

Do you want a beautiful garden but don't know what to plant, then call Alison. She will visit your garden (if reasonably local), discuss your requirements, source the plants (mainly from her own nursery) and advise you on layout, all at very reasonable and competitive prices. She does not however do a full landscaping service or planting.

Alison has also been making beautiful fresh and dried wreaths for over 13 years. She uses only the finest natural materials and each wreath is hand made and unique. The larger wreaths can take up to a week to design and make. A selection of dried wreaths can be viewed in November/December at Crossbank Farm. If you have a specific requirement any time of the year, but can't find what you really want, talk to Alison and she will try to meet your exact requirements.

Each Spring Alison sells planted hanging baskets or she can plant up any baskets you wish to bring along. Her prices are very reasonable and the results are stunning.

In 2012 Alison took on the responsibility for growing and subsequently providing seed for approximately 30 old varieties of Sweet Pea to the Eckford Sweet Pea Society of Wem. The plants are a huge success and they can be viewed annually at Crossbank Farm between July and September.

Alison would welcome the opportunity to talk to you about your garden and/or provide you with quality plants or wreaths. If you are a member of a Gardening or Social Club, or similar, then why not contact Alison to arrange a group visit to Crossbank Farm Cottage Garden Plants Nursery or invite her to your Club to give a talk on hardy perennials for cutting and drying or a wreath making demonstration.

As a result of her quality value for money produce, a high percentage of her business is from repeat customers and referrals. Why don't you join her growing list of satisfied customers.
